Our story, mission, and values — building bridges for young Europeans since 2020.
Free European Youth e.V. was born from a grassroots youth initiative in 2020. A group of passionate young people – migrants and locals alike – came together with a shared vision: to create meaningful spaces where young Europeans could connect, learn, and grow together.
What started as informal gatherings and local workshops quickly grew into something bigger. In 2021, the initiative was officially established as a registered non-governmental organisation in Germany, with the legal registration name Free European Youth e.V.
Today, the organisation is certified by the German National Agency for Erasmus+ activities (OID: E10307717) and actively runs international youth exchanges, training courses, and mobility projects across Europe.
To empower migrant and local youth in Europe through non-formal education, fostering inclusion, democratic participation, and intercultural solidarity.
A Europe where every young person — regardless of their background — has equal opportunities to thrive, contribute, and shape their own future.
Non-formal education. Learning by doing. Real-world projects. Peer-to-peer exchange. We believe change happens when young people are given the tools and space to act.
These principles guide every project, every event, and every decision we make.
No one left behind. We design activities that welcome diverse backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.
Environmental responsibility is embedded in how we work, travel, and plan our activities (Green Erasmus).
We believe in active citizenship. Young people deserve a voice in decisions that shape their world.
Cross-border empathy. We build connections that break down stereotypes and build mutual respect.
We experiment, adapt, and constantly look for better ways to deliver meaningful youth work.
We care about the mental, physical, and emotional health of the young people we work with.
We're always open to partnerships with organisations, schools, and institutions sharing our values.
